The 1979 Album - The Nightly Parody

Recorded between July and December 1979 at Bishop Studios, St Mary Cray this was the last time the three of us would meet and record together. Andy played keyboards and basses, John played keyboards and Paul played guitars and did the lead vocals. Other instruments, harmony vocals and assorted odd noises done by one and all. The recording was produced and Engineered by Andy.
Thanks to Angela Swaffield who sang lead vocal with Andy on 'All because the Lady...'. Special thanks to Suey, Jamie, Danny, Terry and the makers of Heldenbrau Lager without whom the tape may have been entirely blank.

Heldenbrau Lager

Ah, the oil that lubricated the wheels of recording, especially when it got tough!

Young James Plays the Keyboards

My son James gets his first taste of life at the keys. More than 40 years on he plays a Clavinova (although not quite as well as my daughter plays her Clavinova!), just as I did just a few years after these recordings were completed.

Original Lyrics Collage from Paul

From Paul's archives, a collage of the original lyrics from the 1978 and 1979 recordings.
